Hiring: Ethnographic Evaluation Support
The Research-to-Policy Collaboration (RPC; research2policy.org) invites applications for a part-time Evaluation Support who will be contracted to support the qualitative evaluation of an approach for facilitating partnerships between researchers and congressional officials, which is thought to support policymakers’ use of research evidence. The Evaluation Support will collect in-depth qualitative data from researchers and congressional staff involved in the RPC via semi-structured interviews and field observations. This work will complement a randomized controlled trial involving longitudinal survey data and assessment of legislators’ research use via public statements and introduced bills.
Successful applicants will be selected on the basis of their research and policy experiences, organizational skill, and ability to work independently. In-depth interviews with congressional staff and observed congressional meetings will take place in-person, in Washington DC; therefore, some travel may be required, whereas other work may occur remotely. For instance, in-depth interviews with participating researchers may occur by phone or web-chat. This work is expected occur on a part-time, contracted basis and will last for about one year. The Evaluation Support may also support qualitative coding of legislative documents as part of the evaluation.
